Your photos, where you left them

• A note you made by photographing something now shows that photograph in your Library. Until today a snap of a receipt looked exactly like a note you typed — plain text, nothing to recognise — so the one thing that would have made it findable while scrolling was the one thing hidden until you opened it. In the browser you can tap the picture to see it full size; on the phone the row opens the note and the photo is inside.

• The card you get after adding a photo is bigger, and the preview on it opens full-screen when you tap it. A receipt at the old size was a smudge. When the reading finishes you now get plain Keep it and Open and edit buttons instead of having to guess what happens next.

• Adding a photo no longer makes you wait at the moment you commit. The upload used to start when you pressed Submit, after you had typed what the photo was for — so on a weak signal there was a pause at exactly the point you had decided. It now starts the moment you pick the photo, and Submit only has to say go. The wait has moved rather than disappeared: there is still a short pause after picking, before you can begin describing the photo. What you get for it is a Submit that stays quick however poor your signal is, and the news that a photo is too large or in the wrong format before you have written anything about it rather than after.

• The photo and send buttons at the bottom of the capture screen are bigger. They were four points under the size Apple and Google both ask for, which is the difference between hitting and missing one-handed — on the two controls you press most.

• Swipe a note to schedule it. A date set with a time arms the reminder for exactly that minute.
